Brand Storytelling and Product Description for Glenfarclas Whisky
Glenfarclas produce single malt Speyside whiskies from their distillery in Ballindalloch, Scotland.
Creative marketing agency, Mearns & Gill asked me to assist in writing the brand story copy for Glenfarclas’ new celebratory whisky. The whisky commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Grant family buying the distillery in 1865. With Mearns & Gill having worked on the visual design and branding of the whisky, I was provided with a brief, which included Glenfarclas’ history and some potential story ideas. The final copy was to be displayed on the reverse side of the bottle and casing.
Focusing on the history of the brand, I took the story ideas and historical information and structured them into a 230 word narrative that explained the history, distilling process and celebration of Glenfarclas whisky. The whisky was named £511.19s 0d Family Reserve after the amount that the family paid for the distillery.
Both Mearns & Gill and the client were pleased with the final copy and the story is now proudly displayed on the bottle and casing of this unique, celebratory whisky.
